The Bed + PillowBoard has a height of 35" from bottom of the legs to the top of the PillowBoard. The Bed + Headboard has a height of 39" from the bottom of the legs to the top of The Headboard.

The Bed has a generous 9" of underbed space, allowing for smart storage.

The Bed has 9" of clearance and the top of the rails are 13". There is a 3/4" mattress lip so mattresses will sit on the slats that are about 12 and 1/4" above the ground. The Bed + PillowBoard has a height of 35" from bottom of the legs to the top of the PillowBoard. The Bed + Headboard has a height of 39" from the bottom of the legs to the top of The Headboard. Once you remove the pieces from the packaging, The Bed can be assembled in 5–10 minutes by one person without tools. For those who prefer to take their time, you're still likely to be all set-up in under fifteen minutes.

While you can use a box spring with The Bed, we highly recommend against it. The slats are perfectly spaced at just under 3” apart to evenly hold up your mattress while providing optimum support and breathability. We also recommend against bed skirts. The Bed as well as The PillowBoard are meant to be seen.

The Bed is available in three unique finishes—Walnut, Natural, and Espresso. Because we use 100% real wood, you can expect unique grains and slight color variation. These subtle imperfections are indicative of authentic wood, and should be celebrated. The color will appear slightly warmer in artificial lighting, cooler in natural lighting, and darker in dim lighting.

The PillowBoard is an innovative Thuma design that fits perfectly between your mattress and wall (or any flat surface behind your bed). It’s a hybrid headboard and pillow, providing a simple, minimal look and a stable but soft place to lean back and stack pillows against. It’s not attached to the frame, but when used correctly it’s designed to stay in place, while being easily removable, as needed. It can also accommodate for any extrusions (like walls, molding, and window sills) up to 3" in size without any problems.

At this time, the PillowBoard is not sold separately.

The PillowBoard doesn't attach to the frame and is designed to sit perfectly on the back of the frame between the mattress and wall (or any flat surface). Once in place, it holds very firmly, creating a supportive and comfortable backing for lounging and leaning back in bed.

At this time, we do not sell the PillowBoard separately. The PillowBoard was designed to complement The Bed in solving some of the most persistent problems found in most other platform bed frames. Such problems include pillows falling behind the mattress between the wall, having to prop bed pillows up just-so to create a comfortable experience while leaning back/sitting up in bed, and the noises caused from bed frames bumping into the wall during Bed Time activities. In addition to solving these problems, the PillowBoard is also low-profile. It’s easy to cover with pillows and bedding if you’re going for a more minimalist look, or lay pillows flat for a design accent.

Yes! The slip cover is easily removable and washable so that it's easy to keep things fresh. For best results, wash cold and hang dry, or dry clean as needed.

The PillowBoard should sit against a wall. It is not attached to the frame and has been designed to sit between your mattress and wall, or any flat surface.

The Headboard does not need to sit against a wall, but it can, if desired. Thanks to Japanese joinery, The Headboard is secured to The Bed and needs no additional support or backing.

Very strong! The Bed is designed not to squeak or creak, and has a weight capacity of 1,500 lbs +.

Yes. The Bed has been designed to work with all mattresses, including foam, bed-in-a-box, spring, hybrids, and traditional mattresses and specifically designed to work with The Mattress to keep jutting corners and slats out of sight. The slats are spaced just under 3” apart for optimal support and breathability. All mattress thicknesses will work with The Bed, with larger mattresses covering up more of The PillowBoard for a minimalist look, and thinner mattresses creating a more accentuated design element. We use standard mattress height (10-11”) in all of our in-house photography.

The Bed has been designed to work with U.S. standard mattress sizes, and is currently available in:

The Daybed is a twin sized bed, made with the same materials and care as The Bed, that comes with three PillowBoards for versatility and comfort. Though intended to sit between the mattress and wall on one short rail and one long rail, they can be configured however best suits your space. The Headboard is not available for The Daybed at this time.

Yes. Like The Bed, The Headboard is available in Walnut, Natural, and Espresso. The Headboard is made from the same solid, high-quality, upcycled wood as The Bed, too. The PillowBoard is an innovative, pro-lounge headboard alternative made with supportive foam backing. It is not attached to The Bed, but stays firmly in place when used correctly. The PillowBoard is modifiable; the cover is washable and interchangeable, and the height can be increased with Bolsters. It also accommodates any extrusions (like walls, molding, and window sills) up to 3" in size without any problems.

The Headboard is made from solid wood and is taller and wider than The PillowBoard. It attaches to The Bed using Japanese joinery, providing a sleek look and sturdy support. In contrast to The PillowBoard, it does not need to be against a wall. The Headboard is available in Queen, King, and Cali King sizes.

All Thuma beds are compatible with both The PillowBoard and The Headboard. You can switch between the two as you please. It's important to note that you can buy The Headboard separately; The PillowBoard is not available separately, but alternate covers are.

Yes! The Headboard is compatible with all existing Thuma Beds. Some disassembly is required to attach it, but as with The Bed, there’s no tools required and no metal hardware.

It takes about 5(ish) minutes! You’ll need to disassemble The Bed and reassemble with some new pieces, but The Headboard assembly is just as seamless as The Bed’s, using the same Japanese joinery and hand-tightened screws.

Yes, The Headboard is made from the same solid, high-quality, upcycled wood as The Bed and The Nightstand.

No, The Headboard is taller and wider than The PillowBoard. At 26”, it’s 4” taller than the Pillowboard.

While the exterior of The Headboard is straight so it can rest flush against a wall if desired, the interior features a slight 3° angle for comfort.

Like all our products, The Headboard ships via FedEx, so you can avoid waiting around for a delivery window. Expect a box that measures  around 66–82”  w x 11” d x 9” h box and weighs approximately 38–57 lbs. If you purchase The Bed with The Headboard, you’ll receive 3 boxes.

The Nightstand needs no assembly. Simply remove it from its packaging and it’s ready to go. And, for those who prefer a taller nightstand or have a taller mattress, you can add optional legs on the bottom, that easily twist in with no tools.

The Nightstand is available in the same two premium finishes as The Bed—Walnut and Natural. Because we use 100% natural wood, you can expect unique grains and organic slight color variation. These subtle imperfections indicative of real wood should be expected and celebrated. The Nightstand measures 20” w x 15” d x 20” h without The Legs and 20” w x 15” d x 24” h with The Legs.

Absolutely not! We included The Legs to help you find the perfect height for The Nightstand. This can be based on mattress height or personal preference. There’s no wrong way to do it.

They measure 4” tall, ideal for a little extra lift.

The Drawer measures 16” w x 12” d x 4.5” h. Perfect for storing whatever you need close-by and out of sight.

The top tray is set ¼” into The Nightstand with a beautiful beveled edge to keep everything where it belongs.

The open air space measures 12”. Perfect for books and blankets, or leave it unfilled for an ultra-minimal look.

The Drawer Stop is a small wooden piece which keeps The Drawer from falling out of The Nightstand when you open it. In the locked position, you can use The Drawer as normal. In the unlocked position, you can slide The Drawer out completely to make the moving, rearranging, and organizing easier. You can find it on the underside of the top of The Nightstand when you open The Drawer.

The Nightstand is finished with an oil-based natural walnut colored stain that will develop a beautiful patina over time. To maintain this beautiful neutral color, it’s best to avoid moisture and keep out of direct sunlight. Using a coaster for drinks and a soft cloth for cleaning is recommended.

The Mattress was designed in accordance with U.S. standard mattress sizes and is 10” in height. The Mattress is currently available in:

The Mattress is comfortable and supportive with a medium-firm feel.

The Mattress is a lean design, at 10” in height, with three luxe layers thoughtfully constructed for optimal thickness without excess material:

• The Cover—Made from Tencel, recycled polyester, spandex, and Rayon with a flame resistant wool blend layer.
• The Comfort Layer—The top layer is 1-inch of natural premium Latex, certified by the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS), and provides pressure-point relief, breathability, durability, natural responsiveness to movement, and antimicrobial properties. Sustainably farmed and non-toxic.
• The Transition Layer—The middle layer is 3-inches of Certi-PUR-US polyurethane foam formulated with up to 20% plant-based BioFoam®.
• The Base Layer—The bottom layer is the core structure of The Mattress, with 6-inches of a firmer Certi-PUR-US polyurethane foam formulated with up to 20% plant-based BioFoam®. Designed to provide support, breathability, edge reinforcement, and reduce motion transfer.

While you can use a box spring with The Mattress, we highly recommend against it. The Mattress is designed to stand on its own without a box spring, and provides optimal support and breathability without one.

After you unpack and unroll The Mattress, it can take up to 48 hours for it to reach its full height, but you can sleep on it right away. A slight odor is normal and will dissipate quickly.

Spot clean, as needed using a mild solution of 1/3 detergent or dish soap and 2/3 water to clean everyday stains. We recommend using a mattress protector to keep things fresh.

No! The Mattress was designed so you’ll never need to flip it.

While you'll never come in direct contact with latex—all of our materials are encased in a Tencel cover—we advise you to check with your physician before purchasing.

TENCEL™ is a type of rayon made of wood pulp that is spun into yarn and woven into fabric. The end result of this minimal waste process is lyocell fiber, which is light, versatile, and super soft.

Rayon is an extremely versatile semi-synthetic fabric fiber, derived from natural purified cellulose fibers, like wood pulp, with similar properties to cotton.

BioFoam® is a patented biological foam made in the United States from plant materials. It makes up roughly 20% of the foam used in The Mattress. It is CertiPUR-US® certified and has a Cradle to Cradle® Certification™, which is a globally recognized measure of safer, more sustainable products. While using BioFoam® doesn’t mean our foam is a totally natural product, it does represent movement in the right direction and a significant improvement over traditional memory foams.

Depending on the configuration, The Dresser can be assembled in as little as 10 minutes by one person without tools.

It takes no time at all. There’s no assembly required. You simply need to lift your mattress slightly and follow the instructions on how to attach The Sleeve to The Bed.

The Sleeve consists of an upcycled rubberwood rod in a natural finish and 100% wool felt in four distinct colorways: Heathered Grey, Dusk, Thunderstorm, and Midnight.

The Tray is made of durable powder-coated steel with a cork-padded rail connector to prevent scratches on The Bed.

The Tray was designed specifically to pair exclusively with The Bed. The rail connector is measured to snugly fit onto the rail (long or short). It can be adjusted or removed easily, as desired.

The Tray takes only a minute or two to set up or remove, no tools required.

Start by aligning the L-shaped end of The Tray connector along the bottom edge of The Bed’s rail. Then, push it up and over the rail to lock into place. Make sure all cork pads are in contact with The Bed for a firm fit. It can attach anywhere along any rail of The Bed. Lightly lift and slide to find the sweet spot.

The Tray is designed to hold up to 10lbs.

For care, wipe with a damp cloth, then wipe with a dry cloth to pick up any excess moisture.

The Tray measures 13.7” L x 10.4” W x 1” H ( measured from the Bed’s rail) and weighs ~7 lbs.

The Side Table is made of durable powder-coated steel

The Side Table takes only a few minutes to set up, no tools required.

Step 1: Place all pieces on a soft surface to protect floors. Flip the top tray so the surface is face down and slot the stand over the attachment on the underside. Insert and twist the screw by hand to secure its position.

Step 2: Keep the table upside down and mount the base onto the other end of the same stand. Make sure the pin is aligned with the hole in the base.

Step 3: Lastly, insert and tighten the key through the hole in the base. Flip The Side Table onto its feet. Good job, you’re all set.

The Side Table is designed to hold up to 15lbs.

The Underbed Storage Bin is made of 100% PET felt, crafted from recycled plastic bottles.

The Underbed Storage Bin measures 31.5” L x 21.65” W x 6.9” H and is designed to fit perfectly under all sizes of The Bed. Fit up to two under a Twin, four under a Full or Queen, and six under a King/Cali King.

We ship throughout the U.S., and offer free shipping orders over $95 within the continental U.S. International customers are welcome to have orders delivered to a freight forwarder of their choice located within the continental U.S. In the unlikely event that you’d like to make a return, this would need to be handled through the original shipping address in the continental U.S.

The Bed ships free in three boxes designed to fit upstairs and through hallways, as needed. Although able to be carried by one person, it’s truly a breeze with two.

We do our best to make sure all 3 boxes for The Bed arrive together, but sometimes they may arrive at different times. This goes for orders including multiple products as well. Unfortunately, this is out of our control. If you haven’t received everything, please go to your shipping confirmation email to access your FedEx tracking number. There you’ll be able to click on “multi-piece shipment” which will provide access to all tracking numbers corresponding to your shipment with estimated delivery times.

The Nightstand ships free, fully-assembled, in one box which measures 25” x 20” x 25” and weighs 55 lbs. Although it’s manageable for one person, it’s a breeze with two.

The Mattress ships in one compact, recyclable box that varies in size depending on the size you purchased. It arrives rolled, with an outer layer of plastic around The Mattress for protection and an inner plastic layer to keep it clean, dry, and compressed. Once you cut the outer layer of plastic and unroll the mattress it will begin to decompress.

Depending on the configuration, The Dresser arrives in multiple boxes. Box 1 includes the base drawer, tray top, and legs, and each additional drawer arrives in its own box. Box 1 weighs 65 lbs. Each drawer box weighs 51.8 lbs. It ships within 3-5 business days, not including weekends and federal holidays.

The Sleeve ships free, in one box which measures 15.5” w x 9.5”d x 2” h, and weighs about 5 lbs. It’s super simple to set up and can be done by one person in a few minutes.

The Tray ships in one recyclable box that measures 16.1” w x 13.2”d x 6.7” h and weighs ~7 lbs. It arrives in a plastic polybag, to prevent scratching, and recycled cardboard is used inside to provide cushion and protection so it doesn’t move around in transit.

The Side Table ships in one recyclable box that measures 22.8” w x 11.6”d x 24” h and weighs ~33 lbs, with three interior compartments, one for each component. It arrives in plastic polybags, to prevent scratching, and recycled cardboard is used inside to provide cushion and protection so it doesn’t move around in transit.

The Headboard arrives in one: 66–82” w x 11” d x 9” h box and weighs approximately 38–57 lbs depending on the size. It ships within 1–5 business days, not including weekends and federal holidays.

Be sure to include a photo of the issue so we can log it and take steps so it doesn’t happen again.

Reach out within the 100 Day Trial and we'll set up a return. We ask that you hold onto your original packaging (3 boxes for The Bed; 1 box for The Nightstand, The Tray, and The Side Table) if you're thinking about a return. Once you send back the product and it’s checked in at our warehouse, we'll issue a full refund.

For The Mattress, we offer the same 100 Day Trial, but because your body can take a few weeks to adjust to a new feel and support level, we ask that you sleep on it for a minimum of 30 days to give yourself the full experience. If after 30 days you're still not satisfied, please reach out to our concierge team.

For The Gift Card, The Sleeve and all of The Gift Shop items, we do not accept returns. Please note that shipping fees will not be refunded during the return process.

The Bed, The Headboard, The Nightstand and The Dresser are built to last and backed with a lifetime warranty. The Mattress is covered by a 15-year warranty. At this time, we don’t offer a warranty on any other items. For additional warranty details, please click here.

Sustainability and the environment are considered at every step of everything we do. A few key things to note:

• The Bed, The Headboard, The Nightstand, and The Dresser are made of upcycled rubberwood.
• The Mattress is made of all-natural Latex, recycled polyester, CertiPUR-US foam, plant-based foam called BioFoam® and sustainable Tencel™.
• In an effort to create a more circular sustainable network, The Mattress uses latex from rubber trees—just like the rubber trees used to produce rubberwood for The Bed, The Headboard and The Nightstand once they've reached the end of their latex-producing lifecycle.
• The Bed, The Headboard, The Nightstand, and The Dresser are built to last a lifetime, with the hope that they rarely ever end up as part of the 10 million tons of furniture waste each year, and have a lifetime warranty to match.
• We donate one tree for every bed and nightstand sold through One Tree Planted. We've planted over 150k worldwide to date.

A GREENGUARD Gold Certification is a specification, by product, that all materials used in the construction have undergone extremely thorough testing for chemicals, including off gassing VOCs, formaldehydes, and all aldehydes, and have been scientifically proven to meet some of the world’s most rigorous third party emissions standards. The lower the chemical emission, the cleaner and less polluted the indoor air, the lower the risk of chemical exposure, and the healthier the environment. To obtain GREENGUARD Gold Certification, our products met stricter certification criteria to account for the health and safety of sensitive populations (including children and the elderly).

VOCs are Volatile Organic Compounds, which are compounds that easily become vapors or gasses. Though they are often associated with burning fuel such as gasoline, wood, coal, or natural gas, they also come from everyday consumer products.

For a GREENGUARD Gold certification, our VOC levels needed to be ≤ 0.25 mg/m³. We tested at <0.004 mg/m³, which is 30 plus times under the VOC level criteria. We feel really good about these numbers and know it makes a real difference in the world and for customers. The Bed—as well as The Headboard, The Nightstand, The Dresser, The Tray, The Side Table, and The Mattress—cause less indoor pollution, meaning cleaner air, and a better environment for you.
